What people are saying.

I loved working as a caregiver with Jill and getting to benefit from her expertise, clear teaching, and compassion. One of the many things that makes her a great leader is her ability to make her team feel valued and supported. Jill is thoughtful and open-minded when it comes to problem-solving, and I appreciate and admire her amazing ability to stay organized, focused, and clear-headed in both big-picture planning and in urgent crises.

Jill has been an amazing resource and sounding board for me in both a professional caregiving setting and with my own rescued farm animals. She has given me insight and support ranging from navigating diagnostics to handling herd dynamics to managing relationships with veterinarians. I couldn't commend Jill more!

“In her nine years of experience, Jill has established herself as a highly respected leader in animal care. She is a professional who is able to communicate her knowledge thoughtfully, thoroughly, and effectively. Her training and organizational skills had a lasting impact that set me up for success as an animal caregiver to not only be able to confidently handle the day-to-day care, but also any emergencies that arise.”

Jill is an incredibly organized individual who excels at creating and putting into place the systems and procedures necessary for shelter operations to run smoothly and efficiently. Her problem-solving and communication skills, along with her ability to remain calm and patient no matter how stressful things get, are just a few of the things that make her such an amazing caregiver and shelter manager.

Jill is one of the hardest working, dedicated, and knowledgeable animal caregivers I have ever worked with. Jill has played an integral role in my development as a caregiver, having led me twice: once at Farm Sanctuary and again at Hockhockson Farm. Years later, I still draw on the skills I learned under Jill’s leadership. She teaches not just the basic skills needed to be an effective caregiver but also how to think critically, anticipate and avoid obstacles, and work effectively under pressure. Despite the diverse and unique challenges faced by both small and large-scale sanctuaries, Jill has proved herself a successful leader at both.

I had the immense pleasure of working with Jill Tedeschi for several years at an animal sanctuary. Jill was always revered by the staff for her ability to successfully lead and train teams, in the most efficient and effective manner of care. Jill had the uncanny ability to walk into pastures, barns, and fields and spot animal care issues for afar, and then effectively communicate in depth knowledge of the treatment needed to help said animal.  She is often brought up as a caregiver and leader that people still continue to strive to be like. She is unmatched in the animal care world and her knowledge is vast.

Jill is an inspiring leader and trainer. Her training style is very thorough, and she has extensive knowledge and experience to answer questions and provide support. Jill is direct and points out mistakes or recommendations on how someone could perform better, with honest, constructive criticism, understanding, and kindness. She is great at supporting coworkers, without pressuring them, to step out of their comfort zone when she feels that they are ready to learn a new skill. Because her training is extensive, coworkers have enough knowledge to go into new situations with confidence, and Jill provides positive guidance throughout.

Jill is an amazing leader; she is incredibly supportive and always has a positive attitude. She is an excellent teacher and I always wanted to learn as much as I could from her. She empowered me as a caregiver and encouraged me to be the best caregiver I had the potential to be, seeing what I could become even when I didn't. She is compassionate to both humans and nonhumans and will do whatever she can to uplift all of us when we need it most. She has an amazing work ethic, and it makes me proud to say she trained me.

I attribute a large amount of my knowledge and skills to her. In her management role, she is good at identifying your weaknesses and using that in your training to turn them into strengths. She can remain calm and level-headed in stressful situations and knows how to delegate to the team in order to deal with the situation at hand in an effective and efficient manner. Her knowledge of animal care and shelter management is impressive to say the least.

I strive to follow in her footsteps, and will often find myself thinking, ‘What would Jill do in this situation?’ Her ability to assess what an animal needs or what the staff needs seems to come to her as second nature as if she's been doing this work for a lifetime. If I could, I would work with her for the rest of my shelter career!

I was lucky enough to be trained by Jill as both an intern and later when I returned as a full-time caregiver. From the start, it was easy to see that any staff member or intern could go to her with questions or concerns, confident that she could efficiently solve any problem, large or small. Her patience and kindness are only matched by excellent animal care, knowledge of multiple farmed animal species, and the ability to lead a team of caregivers. She was always organized and carried a positive attitude and enthusiasm for even the toughest task with her wherever she would go. Jill would be an outstanding addition to any team, and I hope to work with her again someday!
